Privacy

The VanillaRadioplayer app does not collect, store or distribute any personal data:

• Data of favorite items is stored only in the app itself or on storage the user chooses himself (NAS, Cloud).
• Radio item search is done on radio-browser.info. Apart from search criteria no data is transferred to radio-browser.info. Many thanks to the people behind radio-browser.info for a superb service.
• Listening habits are neither recorded nor tracked nor analysed.
• We do not use advertising ids (!), cookies or any other similar technology.
• Customer data: we receive data about the users due to the payment process. This data is not analysed nor passed on to third parties.

Data Security

We do not store any of your data. With respect to data transmission, the following might be of interest:

• In order to play radio stations streaming on http (i.e. non-secure, unencrypted) connections, the app allows so called clear text traffic.
• This clear text traffic only concerns audio streaming and getting podcast data if using http links in the VanillaRadioplayer app, nothing else. You can always edit your favorites and use https links for streaming and podcast information access instead. Station data access on radio-browser.info always uses https connections.
• Payments or app downloads are done via Google Play Store and are always encrypted.
• No login is needed to use VanillaRadioplayer. So we do not have or collect any personal data about the users.

App Permissions

The following permissions may be asked for or automatically set:

• Internet access
• Microphone: only needed on Android TV and if speech recognition is used for searching (permission has to be granted by user)
• Foreground Service: lets you play, pause or stop items using devices like your watch and prevents the player to automatically stop after a specific time period.
• Bluetooth: only needed when/if Bluetooth synchronisation of favorite items is used (file sync is supported as an alternative, except for Android TV). The hamburger menu contains a menu item to access notification settings directly.

    1. BLUETOOTH_SCAN to find devices to sync with. The scan is never used for location access. We do not read, use or store any location data.

  • Android 11 (Api 30) or lower
    1. BLUETOOTH
    2. BLUETOOTH_ADMIN
    3. ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION: this is an Android requirement to connect devices via Bluetooth. We do not read, use or store any location data.

The following features can be activated by the user or are implicitly set:

• Post Notifications, Receive Boot Completed, Foreground Service Data Sync: these are needed if notifications about the download state of episodes shall be displayed (optional). Notifications can be turned on or turned off in the notification settings. The hamburger menu contains a menu item to access notification settings directly.
• Microphone (Record Audio): permission is activated only if voice recognition is used by the user, e.g. for searching radio items.

Disclaimer and Acceptance

By using the app, the user accepts automatically that

1. e-merge llc is NOT liable for any content the user may read, see or hear while using the app (e.g. radio programs, spoken text, music, item descriptions, podcast content, podcast descriptions, logos, icons etc.).
2. it is beyond e-merge llc's control whether or not content provider or other third parties use any means to analyse user behaviour etc. (however, the VanillaRadioplayer app does NOT use or provide keys or ids which may be used for analysis).
3. e-merge llc can NOT be made liable in any way, if due to programming errors (bugs), misleading or wrong descriptions or other flaws any of the declarations made here are breached. In this case, however, we will eliminate the error or flaw once we are informed about it.

In case of ambiguity, only the German version of this policy is relevant (the English version is a translation provided by courtesy). By using the VanillaRadioplayer app, the user accepts all of the above (privacy policy, disclaimer etc.). Place of jurisdiction is 8832 Wollerau, Switzerland.
